Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers
Haiti & Belgium/ Afro-Caribbean voodoo polyrhythms meet bass-weight dub electronics

Chouk Bwa is a traditional Haitian Misik Rasin group. Its name means “root” in Haitian Creole. The percussion is central to the songs and dances from Vodou, whose rhythms owe nothing to chance.

In 2016, Chouk Bwa met the Brussels duo The Ångströmers. From percussion to electronic distortions, the reassembled group is consolidating its ode to Haitian rhythms. Far from being distorted, the acoustic sounds are supported by the Belgian duo and their live experiments.

Their latest record, Vodou Ale, was released in 2020.
